Tanja Braun goes the distance for female empowerment
For Tanja, running is her medicine, her therapy, her muse. As a German ultra-runner, she braves new paths and breaks stereotypes. At 46 years old, life is full of adventure, great health, and new lessons learned every day.
Tanja treads an honorable road, more of representation than accolades. One foot in front of the other, she teaches the compounding power of consistency and to “never ever give up, because you can do anything.”
What awards and recognition have you received?
Although I’ve achieved many goals I’ve set, finishing as the ultra-run winner isn’t my top priority. I love to run for a good cause, and I contribute to a lot of women’s projects. I was one of the first women to run in the Nefud desert in Saudi Arabia in 2020. I also completed a 240-kilometer run from Leipzig to Berlin. In 2020, I ran 20 marathons for a sports series to collect donations and finished a 100k run in the Sahara Desert. My next big mission is to run 166 kilometers nonstop in the arctic.
Can you tell us about any challenges you’ve faced?
The pandemic presented many issues for me, like it did for us all. Running multiple marathons in a row without a cheering audience was emotionally exhausting. I had to discover a different way to find motivation and prevent myself from stopping.
Did your initial Omega-6:3 ratio surprise you? Has it changed from your first reading?
Since I’m a certified nutritionist, I knew about the importance of Omega-3, but I hadn’t learned about the ratio. As an ultra-runner, I need to be very conscious of what I eat. I was shocked when I saw my first Omega 6:3 ratio. It was 15:1. It’s a lot better now.
How did you first hear about Zinzino?

Tell us about your performance since using Zinzino.
